Electronic Filing Password Assignment System
Who can get a password?
For a registered committee, only the official email addresses listed on the Statement of Organization (FEC Form 1) can obtain an electronic filing password.
An entity or person(s) other than a political committee may also obtain a password for electronic filing.
How do I get a password?
Registered Committees, entity(s) or person(s), can enroll into the Electronic Filing Password Assignment System for creating, retrieving and changing, passwords using a 9 digit FEC Committee ID number (e.g., C00401234, C98123456, C70012345, C30012345..etc). You can find step by step instructions in the help section.
Helpful Information
In the instance your email address is not on file with the FEC, the system will send an approval email to the email addresses that are officially listed on the Statement of Organization (FEC Form 1). A committee agent will then have the option to approve or reject the new password request.
Please note that it may take up to 2 business days for the Federal Election Commission to complete electronic filing password requests. Please be sure to update your password well in advance of any filing deadline.
If you need further assistance with the password assignment system, please contact the Electronic Filing Office at (202) 694-1307 during our regular working hours - Monday through Friday (9:00 AM ET until 5:30 PM ET).
