Electronic Filing Password Assignment System

Who can get a password?

For a registered committee, only the official treasurer can obtain an electronic filing password.

An entity or person(s) other than a political committee may also obtain a password for electronic filing.

How do I get a password?

Registered Committees, entity(s) or person(s), can enroll into the Electronic Filing Password Assignment System for creating, retrieving and changing, passwords using a 9 digit FEC Committee ID number (e.g., C00401234, C98123456, C70012345, C30012345..etc). You can find step by step instructions in the help section.

Electronic Password Request

In the instance your email address is not on file with the FEC, the system will automatically redirect you to an Electronic Filing Password Request Page for one-off processing where you must provide and submit to us your current email address.

The FEC will quickly be notified of this request, and contact you at which time we will verify your identity and intent to request a password. Once the verification has been completed, you will receive an email notification with instructions on how to continue your enrollment process.

Since this one-off process involves personal contact with the FEC Electronic Filing Office there is a possibility, during heavy filing periods, response time may be delayed.
